Home Equipment

The local television programme is created by the Engerwitzdorfers themselves. They use their commercial video cameras to shoot their films.
The segments are edited either on a home PC or the locally provided Avid Schnittplatz is used.
The television segments are uploaded from a home PC via an upload tool on the Internet.

Support Team

The “Team Buntes Fernsehen”, run from Engerwitzdorf, is the local centre of first call for all issues on technical production and design the film producers may have. The team is responsible for promoting the know-how of the local population (e.g. through workshops and training in the film sector), provides a studio and a professional film editing facility and lends the necessary equipment. In addition, the team creates its own film contributions.
The “Buntes Fernsehen” team is a community-run association.

Training, Infrastructure

The annual seminars and workshops on topics such as story-telling, camera and film editing provide the basic know-how on filming. The training programme addresses a wide spectrum of target groups, from youngsters to pensioners. The objective is targeted enrolment of the local population in creating audio visual content and breaking down of “digital divides”.
On the so-called “studio days”, professional studio conditions and film editors are made available to the community to assist in the realisation of their film concepts.

Contest

The “Goldener Delfin” [”Golden Dolphin”] contest for the best short film in and around Engerwitzdorf had its origins in 2004 with the field trial for “Buntes Fernsehen”. The organisers of the field trial needed content for the local television programme and the novelty of the project created an inhibition threshold in terms of content production in the local population.
The contest was thus intended as a motivation for hobby filmmakers to realise their ideas for the “Buntes Fernsehen”. And it supported access to the new medium, especially in the initial phase.
Since then, the contest proved to be very popular with the population and is now the social highlight in Engerwitzdorf.
Contestants in the film competition can present their contributions in up to 8 categories, the best works are awarded the “Goldener Delfin” at a big final gala. The films are judged by a jury of prominent persons with specialised knowledge, as well as by the public itself through online-voting.

With its more than 350 contestants and 169 presented films, the “Goldener Delfin” is an unbelievable success with all participants after only three years – but that’s not all: the national and international press has also reported on the project with enthusiasm.
